Up for sale from a recent estate in Honolulu Hawaii, this 19th century Chinese female b
amboo undershirt or vest the use
dating back to the Ming dynasty. It was worn as undergarments to aid air circulation, which helped to protect the outer garment from perspiration stains during the hot weather. The jacket is made of small tubular bamboo beads threaded in a net like structure, with edges finished in cream cotton.
